For roughly a year's time, from 1979-'80, Ted White was the editor of HEAVY METAL magazine. Ted started his career as an associate editor of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction,and used that experience to good effect as editor of Amazing and Fantastic. I am not alone in thinking that under his tenure HEAVY METAL's quality
improved immensely. Not content with leaving it simply as a reprint vehicle for METAL HURLANT,
Ted brought in new talent and instituted new columns by the likes of Steve Brown, Jay Kinney,  Lou Stathis, and Bhob Stewart. He also brought in two nuts named Lupoff and Stiles (see below). More about the strip itself with the next picture.
