For roughly a year's time, from 1979-'80, Ted White became the
editor of HEAVY METAL magazine. Ted had done a great job as the editor
of Fantasy and Science Fiction, as well as Amazing and Fantastic,
and
I am not alone in thinking that under his tenure, HEAVY METAL's quality
improved immensely. Not content with leaving it simply as a reprint vehicle
for METAL HURLANT, Ted brought in new talent and instituted new columns
by the likes of Steve Brown, Jay Kinney, Lou Stathis, and Bhob Stewart.
He also brought in two nuts named Lupoff and Stiles (see below). More about
